It was also honored in 1980 by its selection to be on a U.S. Postal stamp as part of the "WINDMILLS USA" series featuring only five American windmills.

Ice Skating at Depot Pond

Because this channel wasn’t part of the river’s main current, it would freeze over faster in winter, making it an ideal spot for ice skating. This natural feature helped create a beloved tradition of ice skating in Batavia with many local families and individuals looking forward to ice skating on Depot Pond each winter. Access to a warming center at the Peg Bond Center is available, offering a cozy break for skaters to warm up. Ice skate rentals are not available, so make sure to bring your own skates and enjoy a day on the ice. The park also features a 1.75-mile walking/jogging path and two picnic shelters, making it perfect for a day of outdoor recreation. For dog owners, the Bark Park within the park offers a spacious, 3-acre fenced-in area for off-leash fun, complete with a small pavilion and agility equipment. Memorial Park

Memorial Park, once the site of Batavia High School's football field and track, was acquired by the park district in 1976. Today, this 13-acre community park features two baseball fields, a lighted softball field, two lighted double-size tennis courts, a soccer field, and a large playground. The spacious picnic shelter, ample parking, and restrooms add to the park's appeal.

Dick Young Forest Preserve and Nelson Lake Marsh
