March is here, and with it comes an exciting lineup of events throughout the Fox Valley area in Illinois! From festive St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and the first signs of spring to hands-on workshops and family-friendly activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this month. If you're looking for ways to shake off the winter chill and embrace the new season, you’ve come to the right place. This month, you can enjoy everything from live performances and game nights to outdoor adventures and local history discussions that dive into the rich stories of the area. Whether you're looking to explore local culture, get involved in the community, or simply make the most of the season, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Enjoy live music every weekend at Sidecar Supper Club, featuring a rotating lineup of talented performers. Experience a variety of musical genres, including bluegrass, rock, country, reggae, and more. Some artists perform original songs, while others cover your favorite hits—some even take song requests! Grainology Brewstillery – Batavia, IL

Escape the cold and enjoy a lively Saturday morning at Batavia's Indoor Market at Grainology Brewstillery. Every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the market features over 30 local vendors offering an incredible array of fresh, local products. From gourmet meats and eggs to baked goods, fresh veggies, honey, hot sauces, and more, there's something for everyone.


All vendors must grow, harvest, or produce at least 75% of their products, ensuring that you'll be supporting local businesses and enjoying high-quality, fresh goods. In addition to food, you’ll also find handmade soaps, beverages, and a variety of other unique items. With a cozy indoor setting, it's the perfect way to spend your Saturday morning in Batavia while supporting local artisans and farmers.

Torus Center for Integrative Healing – Batavia, IL

Step away from the stress of daily life and embark on a journey of self-care at Yoga and Your Mental Health. Hosted at the Torus Center for Integrative Healing, this beginner-friendly class is designed to support mental and spiritual well-being through gentle movement, breathwork, and meditation. Each session blends yoga poses, breathwork, and meditation techniques to help you slow down and reconnect with yourself. The guided yoga practice includes a combination of floor-based and standing postures that promote relaxation, flexibility, and strength. Props are provided to ensure a comfortable and personalized experience, making this class accessible to all levels.


The drop-in rate is $20 per class, with package options available. A full 12-class package is $144, eight classes are $112, and four classes are $64. Whether you are new to yoga or seeking a mindful practice that emphasizes self-awareness, this class provides a supportive and welcoming space to nurture both body and mind. Led by Jeffrey Erl & Torus Center, the goal is to assist in developing a yoga practice tailored to your mental and emotional well-being.

March 9th: St. Charles Polar Plunge

Ferson Creek Park – St. Charles, IL

Sunday | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Brave the cold and cheer on local Police & Fire department members, their families, and friends as they take the plunge into the Fox River for a great cause! The St. Charles Polar Plunge raises funds to support Special Olympics Illinois, helping provide programs and events for over 23,100 traditional athletes and 13,000 young athletes in Illinois.


Each year, the Illinois Polar Plunge brings together thousands of warm-hearted participants across the state, making a real difference in the lives of Special Olympics athletes. Whether you're taking the plunge, donating, or just cheering on the brave participants, your support matters! All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Illinois. This event is free to attend.

March 9th: Fox Valley Winter Challenge Trail Series

Hickory Knolls Discovery Center,  St. Charles, IL

Saturday | 9:00 AM

Wrap up the 2025 Fox Valley Winter Challenge Trail Series with an epic 10K race at Hickory Knolls Discovery Center! After tackling the 5K and 8K races at the scenic Dick Young Forest Preserve in Batavia and Oakhurst Forest Preserve in Aurora, runners will take on one last challenge to complete the series.

Whether you're a seasoned trail runner or new to the sport, this event is designed to push your limits and test your winter running skills on rugged trails with breathtaking views. Participants can sign up for individual races or take on multiple events by registering for the Trail Series Combo.

Finishers will receive a medal and exclusive winter swag, with additional rewards for those who complete the entire series. Embrace the thrill of winter trail running, challenge yourself to a new personal best, and enjoy the frosty beauty of nature.


March 10th - 28th: Hangin' with Hickory Friends

Hickory Knolls Discovery Center – St. Charles

Monday - Saturday | 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Get up close and personal with some of Hickory Knolls Discovery Center’s fascinating resident critters! Each day, staff will showcase and discuss one of their animal ambassadors, giving visitors a chance to learn about these amazing creatures in an engaging and interactive way. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or just looking for a fun activity, this is a fantastic opportunity to connect with wildlife. Drop-ins are welcome, so stop by and meet your new animal friends!

March 10th, 17th, 24th, & 31st: Open Mic Night

The Comedy Vault – Batavia, IL

Mondays | 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM (Doors open at 7:30 PM)

Think you have what it takes to do stand-up comedy? Grab the mic and show off your skills at The Comedy Vault's Open Mic Night, happening every Monday! Whether you're an aspiring comic or just looking for a fun night out, this event is the perfect place to laugh, perform, and enjoy great company.

Comedians: Sign-up is capped at 40 performers, and online registration opens Wednesday morning until Monday at noon (or until spots are filled).

Audience: No cover charge—just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show! Must be 18+ to attend with a two-item minimum purchase per person (food or drinks). Enjoy a full bar, non-alcoholic cocktails, and delicious food, plus Monday Night Specials! Come support Chicagoland's best up-and-coming comedians and prepare for a night full of laughs!

March 11th: Night Writers Workshop

Geneva Public Library District – Geneva, IL

Join Rick Holinger, acclaimed author and teacher, for the Night Writers Workshop, a welcoming space for adult writers of all genres and skill levels. Whether you're a seasoned writer or just starting out, this workshop is the perfect place to improve your writing skills, explore new techniques, and connect with fellow writers in the community.


This session, titled "Punctuate, Punctuate, Dance to the Music!", explores the art of punctuation—both the "correct" formal approach and the "personal" style that helps writers develop their unique voice. Learn when to break the rules and when to stick to them as you refine your writing skills in an engaging, thought-provoking discussion.


March 12th: Project of the Month – Wooden Spring Door Décor

Geneva Public Library District – Geneva, IL

Get creative with this month’s Project of the Month at the Geneva Public Library District! Learn how to use the Glowforge to cut and customize your own wooden spring-themed door décor. Each participant will receive one project panel, with the option for two people per appointment to work together.

Basic computer skills are required, and all materials—including wooden panels and extra wood for finishing touches—will be provided. This event is for adults and appointments are required, so be sure to reserve your spot in advance!

Mar 7th, 14th, 21st, & 28th: Elburn Friday Night Bingo

Elburn Lions Club – Elburn, IL

Fridays | 7:00 PM-10:00 PM

Every Friday evening, join the Elburn Lions Club for a fun-filled night of regular bingo, split-the-pot raffles, progressive raffles, and pull tabs. With doors opening at 5:00 PM, early-bird bingo kicks off at 6:30 PM, followed by regular bingo from 7 PM-10 PM. Concessions are available throughout the night, and there’s plenty of excitement with split-the-pot raffles and more! This event is free to attend, with tickets sold for each game.

March 14th: Nerf Nights

Pottawatomie Community Center – St. Charles, IL

Get ready for an epic showdown at Nerf Nights! Bring your best aim and battle it out in exciting games like Capture the Flag, Team Elimination, and Free-for-All Combat. This action-packed event is perfect for kids ages 6-10. Enjoy food and drinks while competing with friends! You’re welcome to bring your own NERF guns and protective gear, or you can borrow some from the event (just be sure to label your belongings). Don't miss this fun and energetic night at Pottawatomie Community Center!

March 15th: Visit with Peck Farm Park – Turtles vs. Tortoises

Ever wondered about the differences between turtles and tortoises? Now’s your chance to find out! Join Peck Farm Park for an educational and interactive experience as we compare and contrast these fascinating reptiles. Meet Sir Charles, the Eastern box turtle, and River, the Russian tortoise, as you learn about their unique characteristics, habitats, and behaviors. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, animal lover, or just curious, this is a great opportunity for all ages to discover fun facts and get up close with these amazing creatures! March 15th: Planning Your Herb & Vegetable Garden

Wasco Nursery & Garden Center – St. Charles, IL

Saturday | 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Ready to dig into the world of herb and vegetable gardening? Whether you're an experienced gardener or just getting started, head to Wasco Nursery & Garden Center for a fun and informative session on how to plan, create, and maintain a successful garden and grow your own fresh produce.


This event will guide you through the essentials of growing your own food, including how to get started with growing vegetables at home, selecting the right herbs and vegetables for your space, and creating a planting schedule. You’ll also learn about choosing the right type of garden soil and get the basics of seed starting (you’ll even start some seeds for you to take home!). The expert gardeners will cover the key aspects of garden maintenance, such as watering, pest management, and harvesting, so you can enjoy fresh, homegrown produce throughout the season.


March 15th: Pot of Gold Park Stroll

Mt. St. Mary Park – St. Charles, IL

Saturday | 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a family-friendly adventure during the Pot of Gold Park Stroll at Mt. St. Mary Park. This fun-filled event invites participants to search for leprechauns, shamrocks, rainbows, and other hidden treasures along the 1/2-mile winding path in the park. Walk or run and with every lap, you’ll dig into the pot of gold for a special prize. All participants will be entered into an additional drawing to win River View Miniature Golf passes. Be sure to wear your green for good luck, and bring the whole family—strollers and pets on a leash are welcome! Join us for a walk/run, and discover the magic of St. Patrick’s Day while creating lasting memories.

March 15th: St. Patrick's Parade

Downtown St. Charles, IL

Saturday | 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

The St. Patrick's Parade in St. Charles is the highlight of a day filled with Irish-themed festivities, including an opening ceremony, photo opportunities, and a scavenger hunt. There are also themed events and specials all around town! Starting with the Opening Ceremony at 11:00 AM on 1st Street Plaza. Kick off the Irish-celebration with live bagpipe music, vibrant Irish dancers, and the chance to get a complimentary face painting to add some Irish flair to your look, like shamrocks or a pot of gold. Sit back and enjoy some live entertainment with the St. Charles community before the St. Patrick's Parade starts at 2:00 PM.


After the Opening Ceremony, the highly anticipated St. Patrick's Parade will travel down Main Street, starting at 6th Street and concluding at 4th Avenue. With over 70 entries, including colorful floats, lively bands, and a sea of green, thousands of people will line the streets to enjoy the parade and celebrate with the community. Be sure to dress in your Irish best and experience the charm of St. Charles as it transforms into an Irish wonderland!


Take part in the Shamrock Scavenger Hunt as you explore downtown St. Charles. Search for 10 hidden shamrocks along the parade route (between 6th Street and 4th Avenue) and once you find a shamrock, snap a photo of yourself in front of it, and submit the form located on the St. Charles website. The more clovers you take photos with, the more likely you are to win a prize. Submit your photos by March 15th for a chance to win a pot of gold valued at $300, with three lucky winners announced on March 18th!


Throughout the day, local businesses in St. Charles will be offering sales and specials in honor of the celebration, so make sure to support local and stop by these downtown establishments, including 3rd Street Pub, Coroco Coffee, Dukes Northwoods, The Evergreen Pub & Grill, MION Artisan Soap, Riverlands Brewing, Rock 'N Ravioli, and Tap House Grill.


For a fun photo op, visit one of the Lucky Photo Stations located around town. You’ll find one on 1st Street Plaza and the other along Riverside Avenue, across from Pollyanna Brewing & Distilling. Capture the fun and celebrate all things Irish with your friends and family!

March 17th: Wizard of Oz on Ice

March 17th: Board Game Night

Calling all board game enthusiasts! Whether you're a seasoned strategist or just looking for a fun way to unwind, Board Game Night at the Geneva Public Library is the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow gamers. Bring your favorite tabletop game or choose from the library’s collection and enjoy an evening of friendly competition and laughter. Held on the third Monday of each month, this drop-in event welcomes all skill levels for a relaxed and social night of board games. This event is for adults. No registration is required—just come ready to play and have a great time in the library’s large Meeting Room.

March 19th, 2025: Vine & Vinyl Night

Stop by Up North Wine Tasting Room for an evening of wine, music, and relaxation. Bring in your favorite album, grab a glass of wine, and unwind with friends while listening to your top artists. Share stories, enjoy the vibe, and drink in those musical endorphins as you immerse yourself in an unforgettable night of good tunes and great company. There’s no admission or registration required—just come in, relax, and enjoy the music!


March 21st: St. Charles Challenge – A ST. BALDRICK’S EVENT

St. Charles East High School, St. Charles, IL

Friday | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Join us for the St. Charles Challenge, part of the 25th year of St. Baldrick’s dedicated volunteers working together to Conquer Kids’ Cancer. This event is an opportunity for you to become a hero for children battling cancer, helping to give hope to thousands of kids diagnosed every day. From babies and toddlers to children, teens, and young adults, your support can make a life-changing difference.


This event will contribute directly to St. Baldrick’s, the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, and helps speed up the search for cures. You can participate by signing up to join the event or raising money in another way. Even if you can’t attend in person, please consider making a donation to ensure that children fighting cancer have the long, healthy lives they deserve. Every contribution helps push us closer to a future where cancer no longer threatens childhoods. Kids with cancer are the heart of this cause, and their courage and strength are inspirational. We believe all children should grow up and achieve their dreams. You can be a part of this mission by attending the event or making a donation.


March 22nd, 2025: Community Days

Geneva Commons, Geneva, IL

Saturday | 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Celebrate Community Days at Geneva Commons! This event is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community while having fun. View and explore various community vehicles, including police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles, and get an up-close look at what keeps our community safe. Additionally, bring documents for shredding (up to four copy paper-sized boxes, while supplies last) and donate blood at the Versiti Blood Bus. Appointments are appreciated, though walk-ins are welcome. It’s a great way to help others and engage with the community.


March 22nd, 2025: Weekend Wagon Rides

St. Charles Park District, St. Charles, IL 

Saturday | 10:00 AM - 11:45 AM

Celebrate the arrival of spring with Weekend Wagon Rides on Saturday, March 22nd! Hop on a tractor-drawn wagon and cruise through the trails while discovering the first signs of the season. Along the way, you'll have the chance to meet farm friends and greet the new babies at the farm! To enhance your experience, check out the Animal Adventures schedule for additional farm activities throughout the weekend. Wagon rides are available in 15-minute time slots, and each wagon holds a maximum of 16 passengers. Be sure to check in at least 5 minutes before your scheduled departure time. Meet outside the Education Center for a fun, family-friendly outing.

March 25th, 2025: Dirty Clay & Co. One-Day Wheel Throwing Workshop 

Dirty Clay & Co., Batavia, IL

Looking for a fun and hands-on activity? Stop by Dirty Clay & Co. for a One-Day Wheel Throwing Workshop! Whether you're a seasoned artist or a complete beginner, this 2-hour workshop is the perfect introduction to the world of pottery. No prior experience is necessary! During the workshop, you'll be guided through the basics of throwing on the wheel and given a tour of the equipment. At the end of the session, you'll select two of your creations to take home. Your pottery pieces will need to be glazed and fired, and pick-up details will be arranged once they are ready.


March 29th, 2025: NRC Lecture Series – Fabyan Estate

At Geneva Public Library, Geneva, IL

Saturday | 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

On March 29th, the City of Geneva’s Natural Resources Committee will host the NRC Lecture Series – Fabyan Estate. The lecture will focus on the environmental history of the Fabyan Villa and Japanese Garden, located at the historic Geneva estate of millionaire Colonel George Fabyan. Vivien Lasken, Director of the Fabyan Museum and Japanese Garden, will discuss the establishment of the garden, the current challenges the property faces, eco-friendly improvements made, and how environmental factors impact museum artifacts. This event is free and open to the public.
