February 6th: Paint Your Partner

February 6th: Galantine’s Day Night

February 7th: Project of the Month: Sewing - Make a Pillow

Get creative this February with Project of the Month: Sewing – Make a Pillow at the Geneva Public Library District. This adult-only event will teach you how to use a sewing machine and guide you through making your very own pillow! Whether you're new to sewing or looking to hone your skills, this is the perfect opportunity to learn. You can choose from the fabric provided by the library or bring your own cotton fabric or two fat quarter squares. During your appointment, you’ll receive a hands-on sewing overview to learn about the library's sewing machine, Janome DC 1050, used for your project. This program is available exclusively to GPLD cardholders, with one appointment per person per month. All materials and guidance will be provided.


February 8th: Cross Stitch with the Critters

Hickory Knolls Discovery Center – St. Charles, IL

Saturday | 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Get creative while supporting local wildlife at Cross Stitch with the Critters! This hands-on event offers a chance to create a small cross-stitch project featuring the endangered rusty-patched bumblebee. All patterns, supplies, and instructions are provided, and you’ll have time to work on your project during the event. Take home any unfinished work to complete at your leisure. Light refreshments will be served to keep you refreshed as you stitch!

February 8th: Fox Valley Winter Challenge Trail Series

Dick Young Forest Preserve – Batavia, IL

Saturday | 9:00 AM

Now that the 2025 Fox Valley Winter Challenge Trail Series 5K trail run through the picturesque Dick Young Forest Preserve in Batavia is over. Push your limits with a fun 8K at Oakhurst Forest Preserve in Aurora, IL on February 8, 2025. Lastly, wrap it up on March 9, 2025, with an epic 10K at Hickory Knolls Discovery Center in St. Charles, IL. Participants can sign up for individual races or multiple, by signing up for the Trail Series Combo.


Whether you're an experienced trail runner or a newcomer, the series offers the opportunity to push your limits and test your winter running skills while offering a rewarding experience. The trails are rugged, the views are beautiful, and the challenge is real. Finishers will receive a medal and exclusive winter swag, with additional rewards for completing the entire series. Embrace the adventure of winter trail running while striving to beat your best time. Whether you're out to set a new personal record or just enjoy the frosty scenery, this series has something for everyone!


February 8th, 15th, & 22nd: Indoor Market

Grainology Brewstillery – Batavia, IL

Escape the cold and enjoy a lively Saturday morning at Batavia's Indoor Market at Grainology Brewstillery. Every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the market features over 30 local vendors offering an incredible array of fresh, local products. From gourmet meats and eggs to baked goods, fresh veggies, honey, hot sauces, and more, there's something for everyone.


All vendors must grow, harvest, or produce at least 75% of their products, ensuring that you'll be supporting local businesses and enjoying high-quality, fresh goods. In addition to food, you’ll also find handmade soaps, beverages, and a variety of other unique items. With a cozy indoor setting, it's the perfect way to spend your Saturday morning in Batavia while supporting local artisans and farmers.

February 9th: 15th Annual Super Shuffle 5K Fundraiser

Geneva Middle School South – Geneva, IL

Sunday | 10:00 AM

Join the Geneva community for the 15th Annual Super Shuffle 5K Fundraiser on Super Bowl Sunday! Since 2011, this exciting event has raised funds for the Geneva Park District Scholarship Fund, which provides recreational opportunities to individuals facing financial challenges. Celebrate this milestone anniversary to ensure everyone in the community has access to recreational programs.


The race begins at Geneva Middle School South at 10:00 AM, and afterward, participants can head to the Post-Race Game Day Party at Stephen Persinger Recreation Center. Wear your team colors and enjoy food, drinks, a football toss, a raffle, and more. All Super Shuffle participants will receive one free food item and one beverage, with additional items available for purchase. Runners will also receive a participation medal, and awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers. Registration Fees (Jan. 27 - Feb. 9) are $45, with hoodies available two weeks after the race, or $25 for the race only (does not include hoodie or participant bag). Day-of registration is also available at the late registration prices. Don’t miss out on this fun-filled event that happens snow or shine!


February 9th: Super Bowl Watch Party

February 11th: Funway's Valentine Skate Party!

Funway – Batavia, IL

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a special skating event at Funway's Valentine Skate Party in Batavia! This fun-filled evening is perfect for Daddy-Daughter, Mother-Son, or any special pair. Your $35 per couple package includes a delicious pasta dinner, dessert, roller skating and rental, as well as bowling and arcade specials.


Check-in begins at 5:15 PM, followed by dinner from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Roller skating will take place from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Additional children can join the fun for just $15 per child. February 12th: Restorative Yoga (Adults)

Take a break from your busy week and sign up for a Restorative Yoga class, a calming and rejuvenating experience perfect for all skill levels. In this class, you’ll unwind through gentle, restful poses and passive stretching. Restorative yoga focuses on holding yoga poses for extended periods to promote deep relaxation and mindfulness, bringing the body and mind into harmony.


The benefits of restorative yoga include enhanced relaxation, improved sleep, a positive mood, and overall well-being—while being gentle on the body. Registration is recommended for this event. Dress in comfortable clothing and bring a mat or towel, and water bottle. Chairs will also be provided for those who prefer to sit. 


February 12th: Night Writers Workshop (Adults)

Join Rick Holinger, author and teacher, for the Night Writers Workshop, a creative space for writers of all genres and skill levels. This month, the focus is on critiquing poetry. Begin by reviewing techniques for critiquing a poem and then put those skills to practice. Participants will read a selected poem and identify three or four aspects to discuss, ensuring at least one positive comment. This is a great opportunity to improve your writing skills and connect with fellow writers in the community.


February 12th - 13th: Galantine's Paint and Sip Event

February 13th: Valentine’s Murder Mystery - Dinner & Show

This workshop is a BYOY (Bring Your Own Yarn) event, using jumbo weight yarn for the best results. You’ll need five skeins of yarn for a standard-sized blanket, but you can choose to make it larger or smaller if you prefer. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or a complete beginner, this fun, hands-on experience will leave you with a gorgeous, handmade blanket to cherish. $35 per guest includes all the materials and instructions you’ll need to complete your project.

February 20th: Run to Pub 6-Week Irish Series

Get ready to lace up and hit the pavement for the 13th Annual Run to Pub 6-Week Irish Series! Whether you're training for a local St. Patrick’s Day race or just looking for a fun way to stay active, this community-driven running series is the perfect way to build endurance and celebrate with fellow fitness enthusiasts.


Each Thursday at 6:00 PM, experienced pacers will lead the group on a run, finishing back at Third Street Station for a well-earned beer and exciting raffle prizes. February 22nd: Kaneland Murder Mystery Dinner Theater

Hosted by Kaneland Performing Arts Boosters at Elburn Lions Club, this adults-only event invites you to step into a world of suspense as professional actors lead an interactive murder mystery experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat. While solving the crime, enjoy a delicious full-course dinner prepared by Elburn Lions Club, featuring their famous grilled pork chops and chicken, served with hors d’oeuvres, three sides, dessert, and complimentary coffee, iced tea, and lemonade. The guided yoga practice includes a combination of floor-based and standing postures that promote relaxation, flexibility, and strength. The drop-in rate is $20 per class, with package options available. A full 12-class package is $144, eight classes are $112, and four classes are $64. Whether you are new to yoga or seeking a mindful practice that emphasizes self-awareness, this class provides a supportive and welcoming space to nurture both body and mind. February 22nd: 2025 Wine, Cheese, and Trees

Geneva Public Library District Central Library – Geneva, IL

Raise a glass for a great cause at Wine, Cheese, and Trees 2025, an annual fundraiser dedicated to enhancing Geneva’s natural beauty by planting more trees throughout the city. Hosted by Geneva’s Natural Resources Committee, this beloved event returns to an in-person format, bringing the community together for an evening of fine wine, craft beer, delicious appetizers, live music, and exciting silent and live auctions. This year, attendance has increased to 500 guests to accommodate growing interest, giving those who missed out last year another chance to join in the fun. Tickets are $40 per person, but a 4-pack is available for $120, making it the perfect excuse to gather friends for a night of great drinks, entertainment, and environmental impact.


Proceeds from this event directly support local environmental initiatives. With the funds raised from this event they have planted of over 600 trees in Geneva, brought in over $500,000, helped build Western Avenues edible schoolyard garden, bought a universally acceptable raised garden bed for one of the schools, given away sponsorships to high school students, and supported numerous events about the environment.
